Cognitive Behavior Therapy

“CBT-has been found to be effective with at-risk & proven risk individuals- it is effective in various setting, criminal justice institutions & in the community, it addresses a host of problems associated with problem behavior. In most CBT program offenders improve Social skills, Means & Ends, Problems Solving. Critical Reasoning, Moral Reasoning, Cognitive Style, Self Control, Impulse Management, Self-Efficacy. CBT can help restructure distorted-thinking & perceive, in which in turn change a person behaviors for the better.”

Physical Health and Exercise

We have found success with treating the mind and body as one system. We view physical ailments as stored psychological pain and provide physical treatment alongside mental counseling. When your body feels better, so does your mind. During the “Body” sections of our workshops, participants are trained by highly qualified certified fitness and wellness professional. 

Everyone knows that regular exercise is good for the body, but exercise is also one of the most effective way to improve your mental health. Exercise can have a profoundly positive impact on Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Aggression, PTSD, Stress, & much more. Exercise enhances self-esteem, social skills, and well being, stronger resilience, stress relief, better endurance, reduce tiredness, improvement in mood, increase mental alertness. Helps your nervous system, weight reduction, relieves reduce tiredness that can increase mental alertness. Most importantly, it promotes all kind of changes in the brain, including neutral growth, reduce inflammation, and new activity patterns that promote feelings of calm & well being.

Nutritional Psychiatry

Offers much promise for addressing the large disease burden associated with mental health disorders. New studies focused on understanding the biological pathways that mediate the observed relationships between diet, nutrition and mental health. We know there is an important connection between nutrition and mental health, new and exciting research is surfacing almost every day. We know there is an important connection between nutrition and mental health, new and exciting research is surfacing almost every day.

A very large body of evidence now exist that suggest diet is as important to mental health as it is to physical health. Food is fuel, and the kinds of foods and drinks you consume determine the types of nutrients in your system and impact how well your mind and body are able to function. A healthy diet is protective, having an unhealthy diet is a risk factor for depression and anxiety. What you eat affects how your immune system works, how your genes work, and how your body responds to stress. We can have so much power over our mental health using food and nutrients.

Spiritual Awareness & Wellness
Fresh Start facilitates processes for participants to explore their own journey, to relate our spirits to our physical bodies in a community of purpose. Fresh Start helps participants shift their highest priority to be loving to yourself and others, this is how we define spiritually gifted.

Fresh Start Wellness Treatments

  • Massage Therapy- is a manual manipulation of soft body tissues to enhance a person’s health and well being, Fresh Start incorporates dozens of massage therapy techniques. Massage therapy reduces stress and anxiety, relaxes muscles, rehabilitates injuries, reduces pain, and promotes overall wellness.
  • Yoga-Trauma-sensitive yoga bridges the gap between finding wellness in mind, body, & spirit. It increases strength and flexibility, builds strong respiratory health. Those who regularly practice yoga experiences clearer thinking, more balanced emotions, and increased joy.
  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction “MBSR”- Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry starting in the 1970’s have developed a number of therapeutic applications based on mindfulness for helping people who are experiencing a variety of psychological conditions. MBSR and similar programs are now widely applied in schools, prisons, hospitals, veterans center, and other environments. It also uses a combination of mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga to help people become more mindful.

Expressive & Creative therapy

Fresh Start’s environment encourages participants to express their traumas through exploring their creativity. Expressive and creative therapies help to heal traumas caused by a devastating loss, terminal illnesses of family members, circumstances out of their control, or family unhinging.
